Renowned Design
The Otesaga opened its doors in 1909, along with Leatherstocking Golf Course. Designed by Devereux Emmet, a famed golf architect with more than 150 courses to his name, Leatherstocking Golf Course soon attracted visitors, as the sport's popularity began to rise. While many of Emmet's designs have been lost over the years, a round on Leatherstocking offers a chance to play on one of the finest courses on the East Coast.
Award-Winning
Leatherstocking Golf Course is widely considered one of the most scenic and challenging courses on the east coast, and one of its most recent accolades was being named a 2019 Top Golf Course to Play in New York by Golfweek. Add to that its Zagat ranking as second among golf courses in the tri-state area, and a 4 1/2 star rating from Golf Digest and it's easy to understand why Leatherstocking is a top destination for golfers.
A Thing of Beauty
While the lakeside setting of The Otesaga offers extraordinary views, Leatherstocking Golf Course might be the best place to take in the landscape. Course superintendent Mike O'Neill points to the tees at the 11th and 16th holes as two of his favorite spots to observe the natural beauty of Cooperstown. The 18th hole presents golfers with an island tee, bringing in Otsego Lake as part of the course. With more lake views along the fairway, the 18th hole is the perfect ending to your round in this tranquil setting.
Leatherstocking Bar & Grill
The Otesaga is known for its memorable dining, but the hidden gem just might be Leatherstocking Golf Bar & Grill. During the season, golfers have the perfect spot to relax after their round, comparing scorecards over refreshing drinks and delicious meals. What could be better than lunch on the patio with friends, and scenic Otsego Lake in the background?
The Otesaga is the ideal destination for a memorable trip both on and off the golf course. With the Grand Slam Golf Package, guests will enjoy rates at 30% off, as well as a round of golf per night stay, tickets to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and more. A round (or two!) on Leatherstocking Golf Course is just one of many highlights of a vacation in Cooperstown, so start planning your golf getaway today!
