About this event

In this fairy tale-themed, collaborative workshop, participants will follow a set of prints through the Enchanted Forest using natural materials and printmaking techniques to conjure a world of dreams and fantasies through the stories we read in our childhood. This workshop will provide opportunities for youths to develop and deepen artistic skills in printmaking, printing with natural material like vegetables (cob of corn), leaves, bark, grass etc., expanding understanding of Escher’s technical process and opening the door to new artists. Materials included in cost of workshop.\nOnly ten spaces available in the workshop, so book early!\nAbout the Artist\nBased in New York, Matthias Kern was born in Celle, a small German city south of Hamburg. From a very early age he was exposed to various forms of art and attended all the art classes that were available in his hometown. Over the years, Matthias experimented with various artistic expressions including watercolor, acrylic and pastel, as well as printmaking. He enjoys working in the older printmaking techniques as well as more modern techniques of intaglio, encompassing dry point, aquatint, mezzotint, line etching, silk screen, monotype and woodcut.\nHis vision is to achieve with his art feelings that we all have experienced, and to allow his audience to personalize those emotions to mean something specific for them. Matthias Kern invites you to be transported back to that world where our imaginations ran free.
