The Otesaga Resort Hotel is pleased to introduce a new blog series intended to spread some love to our favorite places and activities in Cooperstown. They are, after all, what makes Cooperstown America's Most Perfect Village.

To kick things off, we are showcasing one of Cooperstown's most iconic attractions. The National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum is an independent, non-profit educational institution dedicated to preserving baseball's rich history and honoring the individuals, players, and teams, who have made immeasurable contributions to the sport.

What We Love About The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum

  1. They're open year-round.

While baseball might traditionally be a good weather sport, you can get your fix year-round at the museum. It is open 7 days a week and only being closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Hours of operation do vary slightly depending on the seasons, but check their website and you are sure to find a good time to visit.

  1. It's fun and educational for all ages.

Explore the history of baseball and how America's favorite pastime came to be. Get to know its most famous players such as Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson. Learn about world records and historic events. View photographs and art that have captured special moments and encapsulated the culture of baseball. Whether you're a kid or a kid at heart, a number of interactive exhibits provide a fun and education experience for all ages.

  1. The museum is easy to navigate.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is three floors with exhibits on the second and third levels. Tours are self-guided to allow visitors to enjoy each section at his or her own pace. The museum can be viewed in as little as a few hours or over the course of a day or two. Admission allows guests access to the facility for the entire day and reentry if visitors leave to enjoy a meal or visit other attractions in Cooperstown.

  1. There's always something special going on.

Throughout the year, there are a number of special events and exhibitions at the museum. Look for special programs monthly, during holidays like President's Day, and more. The biggest celebration of the year is Hall of Fame Weekend which happens every July. Their events calendar will have all the details for any special programming during your trip to Cooperstown.
