Springtime is tee time, and the warmer weather means that opening day at Leatherstocking Golf Course is here. If you've been cooped up the last few months and are ready to get back on the green, we have some tips to make sure your golf game is up to par. It's time to dust off your clubs and head to Cooperstown where one of the most scenic golf courses in the Northeast awaits!
All in the Timing
The swing's the thing, and to make sure yours is in top shape, try slowing things down with this tip from Matt Smith, Head of Instruction at Leatherstocking Golf Course. Use a stopwatch to keep time as you slowly go through your motion, taking note of your club's positioning throughout its trajectory. Working on this important part of your game will pay off when you're ready to tee off on the course.
Putt-ering Around
While you're focusing on your swing, don't forget about the short game, as well. Check out this video from Tim Quirk, our PGA Director of Golf and set up your own gate drill at home. Start by placing three golf balls on the floor (or outside in the backyard) about a half an inch apart. Use the two outside balls as your guide as you attempt to putt in between them. Practice makes perfect, and Tim's advice will help keep your putter face square when you're trying to sink that winning putt.
