The Otesaga is located in the Village of Cooperstown, 70 miles west of Albany, 97 miles southeast of Syracuse, and a scenic four-hour drive north of New York City.
Where is the nearest commercial/private airport?
The Albany International Airport is located 1.5 hours east of Cooperstown, and the Syracuse Airport is 2 hours west. Private planes may also use the Oneonta Airport with a runway of 4,200 feet located 20 miles from the Hotel or the Oneida County Airport in Utica which is 1 hour north. Delta (Detroit), US Air (Philadelphia) & United (Washington/IAD) also service the Greater Binghamton Airport (1.5 hours from The Hotel).
Is public transportation available in Cooperstown?
A trolley runs among the Village attractions during the summer months and on weekends in the spring and fall.
What does “Otesaga” mean?
O-te-sa-ga is an Iroquois Indian word meaning “a place of meetings.”

Beautiful Otsego Lake, approximately 9 miles long and 1 mile wide.
How many rooms does The Otesaga have?
The Otesaga has 133 guest rooms, each with private bath, television with cable and HBO, telephone with computer modem hook-up, free high-speed wireless Internet access, heating and air conditioning, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards.
Do you have handicap accessible rooms?
We have six rooms that are handicap accessible, with two rooms that are fully accessible.
What outdoor activities are available at The Otesaga?
The Otesaga offers the challenge of golf on our championship Leatherstocking Golf Course as well as golf instruction and practice. Guests can swim in our heated outdoor pool or in Lake Otsego and play tennis at our outdoor tennis courts. Canoe rentals are available for enjoyment on the clear waters of Lake Otsego. The lake is also one of the finest deep water fisheries in Central New York, habitat for lake salmon, trout and small and large mouth bass. During the appropriate season fishing and hunting guides can assist you. Group skeet shooting can also be organized.
What is the Modified American Plan (MAP)?
The Otesaga operates on the Modified American Plan which means that breakfast and dinner are included in your room rate.
Can we reserve a room without the meal plan?
No, all Otesaga room rates include meals.
Is there a dress code required for meals?
In the Main Dining Room at dinner, resort casual attire is requested. Please no denims, shorts, t-shirts, athletic shoes or caps for anyone. Seasonal casual attire is appropriate in the Hotel bars, lounges, Hawkeye Grill and throughout the resort. Coverups and shoes are required in the hotel for swimmers. Standard golf attire is required at our Leatherstocking Golf Course, such as Bermuda-length shorts and appropriate golf shirts (no denims, cut-offs, collarless shirts or short-shorts.) In the pool area, appropriate bathing suits are to be worn at all times. Proper tennis attire is requested at our tennis courts.

Children and families are always welcome at The Otesaga.
Are pets permitted at The Otesaga?
For the comfort of all of our guests, pets are not permitted. We are happy to recommend local kennels that are available for pet boarding.
What time is Check-Out and Check-In?
Check-out time is 1:00PM, check-in time is 3:00PM. Guests arriving prior to 3:00PM can store their luggage with the Bellmen if their room is not ready.
Are you a non-smoking hotel?
Yes, The Otesaga Resort Hotel is a completely non-smoking facility.
Do you offer government, corporate, AARP, extended Stay, etc. rates or discounts?
The only discounts available to our guests are those offered in our advertised Resort Packages.
Do you have travel agent commissions?
10% commissions are paid to authorized Travel Agents for the room portion of the American Plan rate.
Does The Otesaga have an exercise facility?
The Otesaga has a fitness center located on the lower level of The Hotel. We can also recommend additional spa facilities in the Cooperstown area, as well as our guests’ having use of The Clark Sports Center for a daily fee.
What is the name of The Otesaga’s golf course?
The Otesaga’s Leatherstocking Golf Course, designed and built in 1909 by Devereux Emmet, recently received the second highest overall rating for public courses in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut by the Zagat Survey and earned 4-1/2 stars from Golf Digest. Tee times may be made by calling (800) 348-6222.
Can the public play The Leatherstocking Golf Course?
Yes, the public is welcome to play The Leatherstocking Golf Course named one of the ten best public courses in the state by Golfweek. Public players can make tee times six (6) days in advance.
Are golf carts required?
Golf carts are not required during the week, but they are required on weekends and holidays prior to 2:00PM.
How far is The Otesaga from The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum?
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is located within walking distance, approximately 3 blocks. The Hall of Fame is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (May to September) and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (October to April).
